‘You can’t touch me, I’m royal’ Prince Andrew snapped at Meat Loaf

PRINCE ANDREW barked “you can’t touch me, I’m royal” in a tense exchange with Meat Loaf after Sarah Ferguson “paid attention” to him, the singer claimed in a throwback interview.

“Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours.

“His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including ‘Fight Club’, ‘Focus’, ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and ‘Wayne’s World.’

“‘Bat Out of Hell’ remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time.

“We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man.”

Meat Loaf’s fun side came out back in 1987, when he appeared on ‘Its a Royal Knockout’.

The show was an idea of Prince Edward’s – four teams of celebrities competed in numerous comical games in a bid to become overall winners.

Each team was led by a royal – Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, Princess Anne or Prince Edward.

Meat Loaf happened to be on the Duchess of York’s team, and in a 2003 interview with The Guardian, he claimed that Fergie had “paid attention” to him.

He said: “It was great fun. I had a great time.

“Fergie wasn’t exactly flirting with me, but she was paying attention to me, and I think Andrew got a little ‒ I could be wrong, I’m just reading into this ‒ I think he got a little jealous.”

What he describes next is an unexpected clash with Andrew, who tried to push him into some water.

The singer added: “Anyway, he tried to push me in the water. He tried to push me in the moat.

“So I turned around and I grabbed him and he goes, ‘You can’t touch me. I’m royal.’

“I said, ‘well you try to push me in the moat, Jack, I don’t give a s*** who you are, you’re goin’ in the moat.”

Meat Loaf was born Marvin Lee Aday and later legally known as Michael.

His career took off in 1977 with his debut album Bat Out of Hell, which remains one of the biggest-selling albums in history.

His 1993 album ‘Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell’ produced the global hit single ‘I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)’.

The three albums have sold more than 65million copies worldwide.

He also enjoyed success in Hollywood. His breakout role in the 1975 film version of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ propelled him to further stardom.
