Royal wedding: Will Pippa Middleton go to Harry and Meghan’s wedding?
THE Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is less than five weeks away and the names of the lucky guests invited are starting to be revealed. But will Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, be going to the wedding?
Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, are set to marry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on May 19.
Around 600 guests have been invited to the ceremony and the couple are expected to select close family, friends and colleagues for the service.
The couple has remained tight-lipped about their guest list, but the numbers will definitely be smaller than Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding at Westminster Abbey, attended by 1,900 guests.
Will Pippa Middleton go to Harry and Meghan’s wedding?
Pippa Middleton, 34, was bridesmaid to Kate on her wedding day and famously almost caused a royal upset when her peachy derriere caught the world’s attention as she walked behind her sister in her maid of honour dress.
Prince Harry did attend the wedding of Pippa to James Matthews in May 2017, taking then girlfriend Meghan along to the reception party in the evening.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said Harry and Meghan might return the favour, “if they know each other well”, saying there would be no questioning of the American being overshadowed on her big day.
He told Express.co.uk: “I don’t think any particular rules apply here and I don’t think there will be the slightest chance that anyone would upstage Meghan at her own wedding.
You have got someone who is going to absolutely stun us with whatever dress she chooses and also as the first American princess, it will be a unique wedding – no-one will upstage her.”
The royal expert said that unlike Kate and William, who had to invite members of states and politicians, Harry and Meghan have more freedom to choose who they want in the chapel’s intimate setting.
He said: “The emphasis will very clearly be on guests that Harry and Meghan know themselves.
“Also there will be those who they feel they have to invite such as representatives of the Commonwealth, other members of the Royal Family .”
Meghan’s older half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Markle, have reportedly not been invited.
And Mr Fitzwilliams said Harry and Meghan are unlikely to be under obligation to invite Pippa – or any expected guest for that matter.
He said: “The emphasis is on those they want to ask and those they know.”
A host of glamorous pals including tennis supremo Serena Williams and Made in Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh are expected to attend the Royal Wedding.
US host James Cordon also revealed this week that Victoria and David Beckham are going.
Asked by Corden if she and David would be guests at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials, the fashion designers replied: “I don’t, I don’t know…”
A laughing Corden then said: “She’s totally going!” adding, “Oh well, how exciting”.
“Yes,” replied Beckham, adding: “I think England is so excited, I mean, it’s so great isn’t it, they look so happy.”
