Royal baby birth announcement: Why Meghan Markle’s name wasn’t included in Kensington Palace’s statement confirming the news

Meghan Markle’s name wasn’t included when the birth of the royal baby was announced by Kensington Palace.

Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their third baby on Monday 23 April, a baby boy to join Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Following the announcement by Kensington Palace, they shared a statement saying the rest of the royal family were thrilled with the news.

It read: “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

After the tweet, some royal fans were left wondering why Prince Harry’s wife-to-be Meghan Markle wasn’t included in the statement, despite the fact she was given the ultimate seal of approval by the Queen on her 92nd birthday.

And there’s actually a very valid reason the Suits actress’ name wasn’t listed.

Marlene Koenig, a British and European royalty expert, said it was due to the fact the 36 year old isn’t yet an official royal, despite being engaged to Prince Harry.

Koenig explained to BAZAAR.com: “Meghan is not a member of the royal family yet, so she is not a relative at this time.

“Meghan is Harry’s fiancé, but is not yet Auntie Meghan.”

If the royal baby had been born after the wedding, Meghan would have most definitely been included in the short message.

It is of no doubt Meghan comes under the “members of both families have been informed” part of the statement.
