Meghan Markle ‘among biggest royal FASHION INFLUENCERS’ but is not as powerful as Diana

Meghan Markle is one of the biggest royal fashion influencers but is not as powerful as Princess Diana, global fashion search platform Lyst has claimed.

The platform put together an analysis of current data that combined historical insights and anecdotes about the royal women to find out who has delivered the biggest impact on fashion style trends.

Last editor Charlotte Austin stated: “Forget the Kardashians or the Hadids; the Windsors are the ultimate fashion influencer family.

“At Lyst we’re used to looking into real time, reactive spikes in search and sales when a celebrity influencer wears a fashion brand.”

Despite the incredible style impact the American has had since she first appeared with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto, the company believes that Princess Diana is still the greatest “trend setter”.

Ms Austin went on: “While we’re seeing phenomenal spikes in demand for all things Meghan-endorsed right now, Diana’s lasting legacy as a trend setter and continual source of inspiration for generations of designers and fashion lovers makes The Diana Effect an incredibly powerful fashion force.

“Based on our research, we believe Princess Diana is the most powerful royal fashion influencer of all time.

“For this project we wanted to investigate the longer term ‘ripple effect’ of fashion trends endorsed by the royals over the years.”

The 36-year-old’s “power coat” is one of the biggest factors for her style influences.

The bride-to-be sported a white coat from Line The Label when the the world found out her and Prince Harry were engaged.

After being photographed with the coat alongside her future husband, the fashion item sold out within 12 hours.

The future royal also wore a Burberry coat during an appearance in Edinburgh – following the engagement internet searches for the brand’s coats spiked by 120 per cent in the next two days.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana set fashion trends of her own – she wore a Christina Stambolian little black dress (LBD) that is seen as responsible for huge amounts of online dress searches today.

Lyst detailed it receives 500,000 searches for LBDs a month.

The Duchess of Cambridge has also had an astonishing impact on the fashion world.

The royal is estimated to generate more than £1billion a year for the UK fashion industry.

Meghan Markle will marry Prince Harry on May 19.

The event is set to take place at Windsor Castle in St George’s Chapel.
