KATE, Duchess of Cambridge, surprised royal fans waiting outside Buckingham Palace by driving herself through the gates of the royal household as she paid a visit to the royals.
The Duchess of Cambridge was all smiles as she waved to cheering royal supporters gathered near the palace. Wearing a stylish cream jacket, Kate was at the wheel of her Range Rover with nobody sitting at her side. The black rear windows didn’t allow fans to take a peep and see if the duchess was in the company of her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
But it still gave them the chance to speculate on the reasons behind Prince William’s wife visit to the palace, with one arguing she was possibly going to have a tea with the Queen.
Royal fan Instagram account duchesscambridge wrote: “Catherine comes to Buckingham Palace.
“I wonder why she came. Perhaps a tea session with the Queen.”
The footage was originally taken and shared on Instagram by social media user melissagrflx who voiced her amazement at how lucky she had been to spot Kate.
She wrote: “When you’re so lucky and get a shot of Kate Middleton right when she gets to the Palace.”
The visit, unexpected by fans, comes amid a raging royal feud between Kate and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.
Rumours of a rift between the two duchesses started after Meghan and Prince Harry announced they would move out of Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
It was later claimed Kate had confronted Meghan over the treatment she reserved to her staff.
These speculations were fuelled by the resignations of two of Meghan’s aides within months since she entered the Royal Family and rumours the duchess is being called “Duchess Difficult” by her staff.
To put an end to this feud, the Queen has reportedly offered her support to Meghan, who is due to give birth to her firstborn next spring.
An insider told The Sunday Times: “Her Majesty has seen it all and could offer the duchess some helpful advice at the moment.
“Meghan would do well to nurture that relationship and pop over for the occasional cup of tea with the Queen.
“That is what Sophie Wessex has quietly done so well.”
Kate and Meghan will spend the Christmas holidays together in Sandringham, the Queen’s residence in Norfolk, a gathering that could exacerbate tensions between them, according to a royal author.
Christopher Wilson, who has written biographies on Charles and Camilla, told New!: “Kate’s a homebody and loves being with her own immediate family at Christmas – off-duty and relaxed.
“Sandringham Christmases can be an ordeal, even for those born royal – and generally those who’ve married into the family often can’t wait to get away.
“As with many seasonal family gatherings, there can be undercurrents and the publicity over the Meghan clash won’t make things any easier between the girls.”
