Kate Middleton: The strict etiquette rules the Duchess of Cambridge follows to be the perfect royal
THE Duchess of Cambridge ensures she always conducts herself with grace.
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is one of the most pictured women in the world.
Along with Prince William, Prince Harry and her children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, she is used to being in the public eye.
As a result, there are certain etiquette rules she insists on living by, in order to ensure she doesn’t ever encounter any awkward social situations.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping, etiquette expert Myka Meier has outlined the rules that Kate follows.
Here are some the important rules she never breaks…
She is also known for having a firm handshake.
Extending an invitation
If throwing a party, according to Meier, Kate ensures she ALWAYS sends an actual invite – usually by email.
Including an end time is a good idea, to ensure guest don’t overstay their welcome.
If you’re wearing a dress that ends above the knee and you’re sitting down, then the ‘Duchess slant’ will stop you from accidentally revealing too much.
Kate’s signature seated pose sees her sit with legs slanted, ankles and knees together and hands in her lap.
It also has the added bonus of making your legs look longer.
When the Duchess is at an event, she always holds her bag in front of her in both hands when shaking hands might be awkward.
Alternatively she can place it in one hand but it never gets tucked under an arm or placed on the ground or table.
For soup, she always scoops away from her, and takes four bits maximum before putting her silverware down for a rest.
Kate Middleton recently stunned on the red carpet as she arrived to the BAFTAs 2017 with husband William.
She looked stunning in an off the shoulder black Alexander McQueen gown.
