The Queen is looking for a new employee to handle her social media accounts, including Twitter. A job advertisement was placed on Buckingham Palace’s official website, seeking a digital communications officer. The role will be based at the palace in central London, with an expected starting salary of £30,000 per annum. The successful candidate will be covering a maternity leave on a fixed term contract from March 2017 to February 2018.

The focus of the role is to find “new ways to maintain The Queen’s presence in the public eye and on the world stage”. This will mean managing and overseeing the daily news flow on the royal family’s website and their social media platforms. “Whether you’re covering a state visit, award ceremony or royal engagement, you’ll make sure our digital channels consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences,” the job description read. “The reaction to our work is always high-profile, and so reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all you do. And having your work shared around the world will be the biggest reward.”
