While Kate and William are today considered pivotal players in the Firm, they did not become full-time working royals immediately after the Queen gave them their titles of Duchess and Duke.
As the prince was working as an RAF Search & Rescue pilot at the time, the Cambridges were initially based in Anglesey, Wales.
They later relocated to Norfolk, as the Duke picked up the role of air ambulance pilot, which he fulfilled between 2015 and the summer of 2017.
Today, the Duke is not just set to become the future Prince of Wales but has also launched a series of widely praised initiatives.
Last year, William launched the Earthshot Prize, a decade-long award awarding solutions to the issues the environment is facing.
After studying the issue of the early years, their impact on the development of children and the perception the society has of this period of time, Kate also launched her own personal legacy-making project: the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
Prince William and Kate have also collaborated on several initiatives during the years.
In 2016, alongside Prince Harry, they launched Heads Together, which aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and urged people to speak openly about their issues.
More recently, since the beginning of the Covid crisis, they raised awareness on the impact on mental health the pandemic is having on key workers.
