SOPHIE, Countess of Wessex, has been branded a “superstar” and a credit to the Royal Family by an expert.

Sophie, who has taken an increased role in the Firm following the departure of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, has won plaudits for how she has supported the Queen through such a difficult time. Royal expert Marlene Koenig also praised Sophie, 56, for being a “stable” influence for the Queen at a time where she has lost her husband, Prince Philip. Speaking to Express.co.uk, Ms Koenig claimed the Duchess is an unassuming character who doesn’t need fuss and attention.

Due to these qualities, Sophie has become much more popular with the public, Ms Koenig claimed.

Ms Koenig said: “She’s got superstar qualities without the need for the flashing light bulbs.”

The Duchess has been seen on multiple occasions with the Queen around Windsor.

According to reports, she also attempted to heal the rift between the Cambridges and Sussexes.

“She doesn’t need the fuss.

“She’s learned what it means to be a member of the Royal Family and supporting the sovereign.

“And she does very well.

“They’ve also raised two children privately and I’ve been fond of Sophie for years.”

Sophie is the patron of a number of organisations and charities.

Organisations such as the Association of Sail Training, Association of Show and Agricultural, Blind Veterans UK and Brainwave all count the Countess as a patron.

The Countess is also the patron of the Vision Foundation and recently took part in a bike ride for the charity.

She joined the group for a bike ride in Bushy Park, southwest London in July.

The bike ride involved six sighted pilots and six non or partially sighted riders.

Monica Smith, the charity’s centenary appeal manager, who rode with Sophie said the event had been a delight.

She also claimed the Countess had also been like a friend during their bike ride.

Ms Smith, who has been blind all her life, said: “She was chatting away, describing everything that was going on, talking about the partnership between a tandem and those who are sighted and not sighted.

“It was really just like going out cycling with a friend, it was really lovely.

“Yesterday when we had a trial run, she said I was the one that was calming her down, and she said that if I had not been calm then she would not have been able to do it.

“She was amazingly down to earth and just understood my situation completely.”
