As they inspected flowers and heartfelt messages, one young girl in the gathered crowd offered up a separate tribute to the late monarch.
The young royal fan passed a Paddington Bear toy to the Queen’s grandson, which has become associated with the Queen following a televised sketch aired over the Platinum Jubilee.
The Queen featured in the skit with the animated bear during the Jubilee celebrations, with the Peruvian bear voiced by Ben Whishaw.
In the sketch, the bear enjoys a lunch of marmalade sandwiches with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The character’s official Twitter account shared a message in reference to the clip shortly after the news broke of the Queen’s death, posting: “Thank you for everything, Ma’am.”
Many tributes to the late monarch have referenced the bear, and Prince William can be heard thanking the youngster for the toy in the clip.
The Prince of Wales responds, according to the Daily Mail: “That is so sweet. Thank you very much.”
He then asks the girl whether she intends for him to hold onto the toy, or whether she would prefer it to join the rest of the tributes lined up at Windsor.

Her father then suggests Prince William could pass on the gift to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis.
The Prince of Wales replies: “I might give it to George. Thank you very much.”
In a separate tribute at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, another royal well-wisher left a wrapped marmalade sandwich with a hand-written note referencing the sketch.
Prince William, who is now heir to the throne, paid tribute to his “Grannie” as his father took up the mantle as monarch.

He said in a statement: “On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms, and the Commonwealth was absolute.
“So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign.
“I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful.
