Thousands of fans flocked to Sydney Harbour on Tuesday to bestow pictures, letters, gifts and flowers on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Both Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan Markle, 37, were showered with loving words and presents – but just a few hours earlier, things were a bit different.

The prince was snubbed by some of his youngest fans during a presentation at nearby Taronga Zoo.
Two children, selected by the zoo through its Youth Wild Squad, approached the royals to give them a bouquet of flowers.
Finley Blue, four, went first, handing Meghan Markle his bouquet, before Dasha Gallagher, six, stepped forward for her turn.

Prince Harry leaned down, expecting to be gifted his own bunch, but Dasha did not look thrilled with the prospect.
Laughing, Harry gestured to his expecting wife and asked: ‘Are they for her?’
Dasha nodded shyly, before handing over her bouquet to Meghan.
The flowers were not the only present bestowed upon the couple, who recently announced they were expecting their first child.
They were introduced to two koalas, Ruby and Wattle, and their joeys, which had been named Harry and Meghan in honour of the royal guests.
In a private moment away from the cameras, the couple were also given a stuffed toy koala, in celebration of their baby news.

The royals were at the zoo to officially open the Taronga Institute of Science and Learning.
