Sarah Ferguson ‘unlikely’ to attend Philip’s funeral as Duke wanted nothing to do with her

PRINCE PHILIP sadly passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday and his funeral is set to take place this coming Saturday – but Sarah Ferguson is “unlikely” to attend, according to an expert.

Although it is not known who will be attending the funeral as of yet, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he will not go to allow more family members to attend.

However, an insider close to the Royal Family has claimed one former member of the Firm is unlikely to attend the funeral.

The source said Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson will not go to the funeral as Philip “didn’t want anything to do with her”.

The source told the MailOnline: “It’s not decided for certain.

“But I’d be surprised if she did because numbers are going to be limited.

“Philip also blamed Fergie for a lot.

“He didn’t hate her, but he didn’t want to have anything to do with her.

“He couldn’t understand why her and Andrew were still living together.”

Commenting further, royal expert Dan Wootton said: “It is unlikely Andrew’s former wife and close companion Sarah Ferguson will attend the funeral.”

Prince Andrew and Sarah split in 1992 and officially divorced in 1996 but they remained amicable after their separation.

Following their split, the Duchess of York was forced to rent a number of places after leaving Sunninghill Park where she lived with her husband.

Back in 2008, Sarah moved into Royal Lodge, located in Windsor Great Park, which is considered their family home.

Andrew and Fergie live in separate buildings on the property but are said to see one another regularly.

According to royal insiders, Prince Philip had a tense relationship with Sarah after the relationship difficulties began.

In a Channel 5 documentary, ‘When Fergie Met the Monarchy’, royal biographer Ingrid Seward said Philip was furious with Sarah following the split.

She said: “Basically after the break-up of the marriage, the family ignores Fergie.

“Prince Philip is absolutely incandescent with rage with her.

“Because he feels that she’s let down the monarchy.

“The monarchy that he has spent his entire life supporting – i.e. his wife, the Queen.”

Prince Philip’s funeral will be televised with a national minute’s silence at 3pm on Saturday.

Following Philip’s death, a statement from Buckingham Palace read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

“Further announcements will be made in due course.

“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
