“In my heritage, there is this DNA of the reed that does not bend.
“I may have been the most persecuted woman in royal family history, but I’m still here.”
The Duchess appeared to refer to the intense media scrutiny she faced in particular between the 1980s and the 1990s.

This isn’t the first time Fergie has spoken about being in the spotlight.
In early August, the Duchess appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to speak about her debut as an author of adult historical novels.
She was then asked by host Christine Lampard how she feels seeing Prince Harry and Meghan filling the headlines on a day-to-day basis.
Asked whether this feels to her like “a crazy world” and if she feels a “bit detached from that”, the Duchess did not mention the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“It was really really, very very tough.”
Sarah joined the Royal Family upon marrying Prince Andrew in 1986.
The Duchess said in the past their union was hugely affected by the Duke of York’s military career and his long periods of absence from home.

They eventually announced their separation in March 1992.
In the same year, Fergie faced an explosive scandal after intimate photographs of herself and financial advisor John Bryant taken during a holiday in southern France emerged.
The pictures were published by the British press in August 1992, while the Duchess was at Balmoral with her family, the Queen and Prince Philip.
Sarah eventually divorced from Prince Andrew in 1996, but the Duchess has often said she has maintained a very good relationship with her ex-husband.
The pair are believed to be still living together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
In her recent interview, the Duchess of York also spoke about her beloved daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
She told the French magazine: “My daughters are my priority, I am always listening, I never miss a call.”
Sarah continued: “If there’s something I’ve done well in my life, it’s being a mother.

“Probably because I haven’t really had one myself.
“One day, I’ll write a book about my mother, who ran away with an Argentinian polo player when I was 11.”
Sarah referred to her mother’s decision to leave her family in 1972 and move to Argentina with professional polo-player Héctor Barrantes.
Sarah and her elder sister Jane Louisa were then brought up by their father Ronald Ferguson, who divorced his wife in 1974.
