The Prince and Princess of Wales made their first visit to the nation since they were given the titles after Queen Elizabeth’s death.

She explained: “I’ve forgotten the Welsh cakes in the rush on the A55,” adding, “I thought s***, the royals are coming to Holyhead.”

William also joked they were “looking for a babysitter” to which the grandmother joked “I would, but I’ve got no teeth”.

A relaxed William replied, “that doesn’t matter”.

The conversation continued as William and Kate moved down the line but were called back as the woman was keen to introduce her grandson.

William told her: “Do you know what, we’d have a lot of fun together. I can see a real budding friendship, (between) you and me.”

As Prince of Wales, William will be returning to Wales regularly in the future.

He told the woman: “Lovely to meet you, we’ll chat again next time we’re up.”
