Royal wedding: Meghan Markle ‘not on SPEAKING terms’ with father as family row escalates
ROYAL WEDDING: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will get married one month from today, on May 19 2018. However, with the wedding looming, Meghan’s relationship with her father is said to be strained.
The royal wedding of Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, is exactly a month away on May 19 2018. But will Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr, attend?
A palace insider has cast doubt on whether or not Thomas Markle Sr will attend the wedding, after revealing a shocking rift between father and daughter.
It is believed Meghan is not even “speaking” to her father, who divorced Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland in 1988 when Meghan was just six.
“Meghan’s father…there’s a lot of issues there,” a source revealed exclusively to Express.co.uk.
“From what I hear they’re not on speaking terms so I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
It has previously been said Thomas is a recluse, and the source confirmed the media attention surrounding the wedding was unwelcome: “He doesn’t want the publicity.”
However, one family member will certainly be attending, said the source: “Her mother will be there definitely but I don’t know what’s going to happen there.”
Besides her closeness to Doria, it seems Meghan’s family relationship is complicated, with her half brother Thomas Markle Jr claiming Meghan had torn apart her family.
He told the Daily Mirror: ““Meg likes to portray herself as a humanitarian, a people’s person and a charitable person but she is none of those things to her family.
“She is giving the greatest performance of her life, she is acting phoney.
Ahead of the royal wedding it has been said Meghan Markle is not speaking to her father
Once she got into Hollywood she turned into a different person. She’s clearly forgotten her roots and her family.”
Samantha Grant, Meghan’s half sister, has also spoken negatively of the actress, using Twitter to voice her feelings.
Samantha claimed the actress does not “respect” her family after hearing the news.
She wrote on Wednesday morning on Twitter: “The Markle family is looking forward to our wedding invites. No-one has one yet.
“Still waiting. I hope London is wheelchair friendly. Excited!”
She then changed her profile picture on Twitter to images of herself and Meghan together.
However, her mood later seemed to sour as she followed up with a string of bitter messages.
Samantha added: “At issue is not a matter of closeness as more than 1000 complete strangers are invited.
Yesterday, a divorce lawyer told Express.co.uk Meghan and Harry might seen a different side of each other on their honeymoon.
“In the run up to the wedding people are often on their best behaviour, and at their most considerate,” said John Oxley, a barrister specialising in divorce law.
“The other side of that can see them relax a little too much,” he explained.
“Excessive drinking can easily rear their heads in such circumstances, while couples can often reveal that they have very different ideas about what married life should be like.”
