Royal wedding cake REVEALED: Everything we know about Meghan and Harry’s cake
The royal wedding cake designer has been revealed, with new details of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s centrepiece revealed by Kensington Palace.
Claire Ptak, the owner of London-based bakery Violet Bakery, was today confirmed as Meghan and Harry’s wedding cake designer.
In a break from the traditional wedding fruit cake, the bride and groom have requested “a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring”.
The cake will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.
Kensington Palace said: “Prince Harry and Ms Markle are looking forward to sharing the cake with guests at their wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19.”
Meghan and Harry appear to have chosen one of Ms Ptak specialties, while adding a personalised touch of elderflower.
The Violet Bakery website states: “For weddings, we recommend either our vanilla, chocolate, carrot, lemon or coconut cream cake finished with super deluxe satiny Swiss meringue buttercream icing covering the top and sides of a tiered cake.
“The cake can then be decorated with a crown of icing pearls on top and along the base and fresh flowers.
“We work with a local florist to match the flowers to your event.”
Meghan had previously interviewed Ms Ptak, who was raised in California, for her lifestyle blog The Tig before the website was shut down.
Ms Ptak focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes.
