Royal wedding 2018: Prince Harry CONFIRMS best man as Prince William for Meghan wedding

PRINCE Harry has asked his brother Prince William to be his best man at his Royal Wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19. Kensington Palace confirmed the news on Twitter.

Prince William, who welcomed his third royal baby into the world on Monday, said he is “honoured” to take the role, which will see him by the side of his younger brother on his big day.

Prince Harry served as Prince William’s best man at his royal wedding to Kate Middleton.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “Prince Harry has asked his brother The Duke of Cambridge to be his Best Man at his wedding to Ms. Meghan Markle.

“The Duke of Cambridge is honoured to have been asked, and is very much looking forward to supporting his brother at St George’s Chapel, Windsor on May 19th.

William and Meghan looked close as the 36-year-old greeted his sister-in-law with a kiss on the cheek just days after he welcomed his third child into the world on St George’s Day.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry in Windsor on May 19, with more than 600 guests expected to attend.

With the 2018 Royal Wedding just around the corner, it is likely Prince Harry has already enjoyed exciting send off before he ties the knot with his American fiancee.

Prince William would have had the difficult task of planning Prince Harry’s stag do – and try and top some of the outrageous nights out Harry has become famous for.

The future King would have been unlikely to go quite as crazy as Harry’s wilder days – which include naked pool parties in Las Vegas and dressing as Hitler.

And William might have had to keep a leash on his brother after Harry offered to buy a PUB on a friend’s stag do in 2014.

Express.co.uk previously reported Harry made the tongue-in-cheek comment after a fun night out playing darts and drinking at the Maritime Inn in Devon on the stag do.

Meghan Markle is reported to have already celebrated her hen do during a relaxing weekend at luxury spa, Soho Farmhouse.

As best man, Prince William will be required to carry out formal duties on the day, including keeping the couple’s rings safe ahead of the ceremony.

It is also traditional for the best man to make a speech on the big day.

Harry previously hinted Prince William had got the top job during a walkabout in Edinburgh when he visited the city.
Tom Martin, 30, who was visiting from London, said: “We asked them what they were doing for their stag and hen dos.
“Meghan said, ‘I’m not sure – it’s sorted but it will be fun.’ Harry said he didn’t know. I’m sure William’s got something up his sleeve.”

They declined to invite any world leaders to the ceremony, including Theresa May, Donald Trump and Barack Obama.

Instead they are trying to make it an affair to share with the public, with 2,640 people invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle to enjoy the pomp and pageantry.

Among those invited are veteran Philip Gillespie who lost his leg while serving in Afghanistan and 12-year-old Amelia Thompson who survived the Manchester bombing.

As their big day apprpaches, Meghan and Harry have already revealed key details about their big day incluidng their wedding cakemaker, photographer and florist.
