Royal SPLIT: Why are Meghan and Harry parting ways with William and Kate? Truth REVEALED

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry will move out of Kensington Palace ahead of the birth of their first child, and will no longer be neighbours to Prince William and Kate Middleton. Here’s why.

Once Kensington Palace announced the news on Saturday, various reports have speculated why the move might be taking place. Many said there was a rift between the brothers, others that Meghan Markle and Kate didn’t get along. The truth, however, is far more practical.

The reason for the move is twofold, according to well-placed sources.

The first is due to cost: it was widely expected the couple would move into Apartment 1 at Kensington Palace, right next door to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Apartment 1, currently occupied by the Queen’s cousin Richard and his wife, Birgitte, will be vacant by the end of the year.

But, rather than a desire to move away from the Cambridges, the Daily Mail reported it the cost to the taxpayer that decided it.

The cost of renovating a property on royal grounds is very expensive – Prince William and Kate Middleton’s apartment cost taxpayers more than £4.5million.

Instead, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen the more modest Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, a five-bedroomed house which has been used as staff accommodation until now.

The taxpayer will still fork out for the renovations needed, but Harry and Meghan will take on the cost of any expenses above the essentials.

he second reason is for privacy.

Kensington Palace, while undoubtedly a safe and happy place to raise children, is quite open to the public, with the paparazzi often snapping the Cambridge children on the school run.

There are also parts of the gardens which are visible by the public, and attempts to grow extra trees have taken longer than hoped.

William and Kate must tolerate this – their unique role as future King and Queen consort puts them in a unique and special place within the royal family.

But Prince Harry and Meghan don’t have the same set of responsibilities as the Cambridges, and are freer to forge their own path ahead of the birth of their first child in spring.

This desire to raise their children out of the goldfish bowl of the London palace was the couple’s biggest factor in deciding where to settle.

The Frogmore Estate is very private, with the main house only open to the public on a few days of the entire year.

Royal experts have insisted there is no rift in the family.

One source told the Daily Mail: “The idea of the two of them as ‘the boys’, the brothers doing everything together and living in each other’s pockets, has been pushed with good intentions, but hasn’t really existed for some time.

“The truth is that they have both just grown up.

“They are rare in that they live together and work together, but there has been a stepping back.

“They are still incredibly close, closer than most siblings, but now Harry has married and is about to become a father, so it’s a good time for him to be planning his own future.

“There is no acrimony.”

Another source added: “Frogmore is just lovely and will be a beautiful place for the Sussexes to bring up their child.

“It’s not that far from London. He or she will still see plenty of their cousins.

“Harry and Meghan are incredibly happy and deservedly so.”
