Duchess of Cambridge pregnancy: Royal source talks on Kate third child rumours

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are unlikely to have any more children, a source has claimed, as the royal couple aim to take on more duties on behalf of the Queen and Prince Philip.

A well-placed source told the Sunday Express: “I would be very surprised if they have a third child.

“They have got a boy and a girl – there is a sense that their family is now complete and they are moving onto the next chapter in their lives.”

It followed reports of a huge number of bets being taken on Kate announcing a pregnancy this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are preparing to relocate to London from their Norfolk home Anmer Hall ahead of Prince George starting school in September.

Kensington Palace confirmed earlier this year Prince William will leave his air ambulance pilot job this summer to take on more royal duties with his 35-year-old wife also expected to take on more responsibility.

Last week Prince Philip announced his will retire from royal engagements in the autumn after more than 65 years supporting the Queen in her role as head of state and attending events for his own charities and organisations.

Buckingham Palace stressed the Queen “will continue to carry out a full programme of official engagements with the support of members of the Royal Family”.

Their youngest son Edward added other members of the Royal Family will step up in support of the monarch, and said the family support each other “constantly” in what is a “team effort”, adding: “The show goes on.”

The Duke of Edinburgh has slowly cut back the number of public engagements he has carried out since 2010.

From 124 in 2014 the total dropped to 116 in 2015 and 110 in 2016.

Prince Philip saw the funny side of the announcement when he met mathematician Sir Michael Atiyah at a reception for members of the Order of Merit at St James’s Palace.

When Sir Michael, who is 88, said to him: “I’m sorry to hear you’re standing down,” the Duke joked: “Well I can’t stand up much longer”.
