PRINCE GEORGE and his sister Princess Charlotte were separated from their parents Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William during a Christmas lunch this month.

Prince George, six, and his younger sister Princess Charlotte, four, were for a brief time separated from their parents Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. Earlier this month the Cambridge family attended the Queen’s Christmas lunch.

The lunch is a tradition the monarch organises every year before she heads to Sandringham for her festive break.

She invites members of her extended family to Buckingham Palace and the event is normally a very private affair.

This year, however, the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall’s husband Mike lifted the lid on the lavish lunch.

He revealed details of the special day on JOE UK’s House of Rugby podcast.

Mike, a former rugby player, told how children, including George and Charlotte, were placed at a separate table in a separate room during the lunch.

He said: ”I didn’t drink actually, this is the other one, the family lunch there must be about 70 of us there—there are seven tables and the kiddies have their own little one in a different room.

“I was on Prince Charles’ table. It was lovely, really good.”

In December 2018, Mike gave another rare insight into the royals’ festivities.

Appearing on the House of Rugby podcast, he was asked whether Christmas is good at the castle.

Mike said: “Yeah it is good. So Christmas Day is a little more quiet because it’s actually a cold buffet because they give everyone the day off, and their big day is Christmas Eve.”

He also explained the family all sit around to watch the Queen’s speech together “with a little glass of something.”

Prince George found himself the centre of attention earlier this month as he got stuck into making Christmas puddings for the Royal British Legion.

The six-year-old was at a charity event alongside Prince William, Prince Charles and the Queen.

Buckingham Palace released the behind-the-scenes video that showed George stirring the bowl of mix enthusiastically as his father and grandfather chipped in to help.

The third-in-line to the throne uses a wooden spoon to blend the mixture.

The Queen, 93, can be seen directing Prince Charles to add extra ingredients to George’s pudding.

The palace posted the footage on Twitter with the caption: “The Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince George came together to make Christmas puddings at Buckingham Palace as part of a Royal British Legion initiative.”

Royal fans flocked to comment on the Royal Family’s post as many were impressed with Prince George’s cooking skills and how much Kate and William’s eldest had grown.

One Twitter user wrote: “Love how George made everyone laugh when he smashed the ingredients.”

Another said: “Wow, George is getting tall!”

A third replied: “Thank you for sharing this clip, Her Majesty looks beautiful and Prince George is growing up very fast!”
