AMID reports of heightened tension between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, a source close to the Royal Family has just revealed what the Duchesses really did on Christmas Day.
Meghan and Kate put on a friendly display as they attended the Royals’ traditional Christmas church service in Sandringham. The Duchesses were all smiles as they chatted to each other during the morning outing. Even behind closed doors, at the the Queen’s Sandringham retreat, Prince Harry and Prince William’s wives reportedly put “their differences to one side” and there was no sign of tension.
An insider told The Sun the two even amicably teamed-up during traditional quiz games.
The source said: “If German and British troops could put their differences to one side to play football during World War One, the feeling was Kate and Meghan could follow suit for Scrabble.
“After watching the Queen’s speech, the board games were brought out and both women got stuck in.
“Pregnant Meghan wasn’t drinking but Kate had a glass of wine or two, and everyone was in great spirits.
“They were chuckling along together.
“You wouldn’t know there was any tension between the two.
“It was a wonderful day and night.”
Intense speculation of a rift between Meghan and Kate started when the former Suits actress and Harry announced plans to move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor early next year.
Sources have claimed Meghan and Kate do not get on, with reports of an incident over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress and a clash about staff.
US-born Meghan has also faced questions over her behaviour, with claims she has been nicknamed “Duchess Difficult” by royal aides.
And there have been suggestions of tensions between William and Harry about Meghan.
William is said to have approached Harry due to fears his relationship with Meghan – who he met in July 2016 and married in May 2018 – was moving too fast.
A source told the Daily Mail: “The problem is that the Cambridges felt things had moved very quickly between Harry and Meghan.
“Wills particularly was worried and felt close enough to Harry to voice his thoughts.”
