Royal family NICKNAMES: What the Royal family call each other behind CLOSED doors REVEALED
ROYAL families are known for their long names and titles which can be quite a mouthful, but behind closed doors giving each other pet names seems to run in the family. Here are the British royal nicknames revealed.
The Queen’s full name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary and her full official title reads Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Qu
However, King George V famously used to refer to his daughter as sweet “Lilibet.”
And Prince Philip, who tied the knot with Elizabeth almost 70 years ago, affectionately refers to his wife as “cabbage.”
Where the somewhat odd nickname came from is unclear, but it might have originated with the French phrase “mon petit chou,” which directly translates to “my little cabbage” but also means “my little pastry puff.”
The Queen’s grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry refers to her a “Granny.”
But when Prince Harry was younger, it took a while for him to get the hang of the nickname, and was overheard screaming “Gary, Gary” according to Daily Mail royal correspondent Richard Kay.
Prince George reportedly call his great-grandmother Gan-Gan.
Daily Mail’s Robert Hardman revealed the royal children, including Prince George call Prince Charles “Grandpa Wales” fitting for the royal who has Prince of Wales as part of his official title.
The Queen had a very similar nickname for her father, King George V, as a child – ‘Grandpa England’.
Prince Charles full name and title reads His Royal Highness Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, KG, KT, GCB, OM, AK, QSO, CC, PC, ADC, Earl of Chester, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
Prince William reportedly refers to Kate as “poppet.”
And in return, Kate has been known to call him “babe.”
Prince Harry has also revealed Princess Diana used to call William “Wombat”, following their visit to Australia when he was a boy.
