Experts have noted the Duke and Duchess have been forced to take on more royal work following Prince Andrew’s withdrawal from official duties in 2019. The Duke of York returned his royal patronages and ceremonial military titles to the Queen earlier this week as he prepares for a legal battle against Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre. Ms Giuffre has accused Andrew of sexual abuse, claims which he vehemently denies.
Andrew’s absence from the royal rota could see Kate and William pick up some of the slack as they prepare to one day head up the monarchy.
In 2021, the Royal Family fulfilled 2,065 duties in 2021, marking a 35 percent rise from the year prior.
Analysis by Canadian researcher Patricia Treble showed William is the only royal to have completed more duties in 2021 than in 2019, at 227.
The Duchess of Cambridge attended one fewer event than 2020, but saw the smallest duty drop from 2019 with 115 events.
