The brothers, who are at the centre of an ongoing rift, have reportedly only communicated by text since Prince Philip’s funeral in April. Their tense relationship is said to remain “very much strained” with “no reconciliation”. It has been claimed the brothers are not making phone calls to one another and are only communicating via text.
But they will reportedly leave Kensington Palace together to walk to the statue “out of respect for their mum”.
A source told The Sun: “Harry and William have only communicated by text since the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.
“There have not been any personal chats or proper talks, just a very brief and minimal exchange of text messages.
“The relationship is still very much strained and there’s no sign yet that there will be any sort of coming together any time soon.”
A source close to the statue planning committee added: “The boys will walk out together out of respect for their mum but there’s been no reconciliation.”
The statue unveiling is taking place in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace on July 1 – which would have been Diana’s 60th birthday.
Harry is expected to travel back from California for the second time since Megxit for the event.
It comes as a new book by respected royal biographer Robert Lacey has claimed the rift between the brothers exploded in October 2018 when William heard of bullying allegations made by royal staff against Meghan Markle, which she has denied.
