Royal baby name REVEALED: These Names lead the odds

Royal baby name REVEALED: Princess Alice and Prince Philip lead the odds

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third royal baby could be named Alice if it is a girl or Philip it if is a boy, the latest odds have spectacularly revealed.

Punters are hedging their bets on Duchess Kate giving birth to a little princess later in April, with baby Alice dominating at the bookies.

Ladbrokes has now said baby Philip comes in at a close second place for a baby boy.

Alice and Philip have topped the charts for both genders coming on top of names such as Eliabeth and Edward.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters are seemingly confident Kate will give birth to a girl as Alice is proving twice as popular as any other name in the market, but if it’s a boy it’s looking increasingly likely he’ll be named after his great grandfather.”

The latest odds on the baby being named Alice are 5/1, and the odds for Philip are 16/1.

Ladbrokes also offers these odds on the baby’s gender: girl – 10/11 and boy – Evens.

The news comes after it was revealed punters might have to wait a whole two days before Kate and William announce to the world the name of their third child.

The move appears to have become a tradition of sorts for the Duke and Duchess, who kept their childrens’ names secret for 48 hours after Prince George and Princess Charlotte arrived in the world.

There is also some speculation a baby girl could be named Diana, after Prince William’s late mother, the Princess of Wales. But whatever name William and Kate choose for their newborn, one thing is certain – the royal baby will not have a last name.Whenever a child is born, both its name and surname have to be filled out on the birth certificate, but this is not the case for the royal family.

Royal expert Marlene Eilers Koenig explained: “The royal baby will not have a last name.

“The name on the birth certificate will say HRH Prince or Princess, and all three names of Cambridge.”

In the same fashion, Prince George’s certificate reads: “HRH Prince George Alexander Louis.”

However if they wish, members of the royal family whoa are of the House Windsor, can use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.

‘Mountbatten’ was added to the name Windsor by Queen Elizabeth II, to honour Prince Philip after the couple got married.
