Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair Royal Correspondent told The Royal Beat: “What was interesting about the internment of [Prince] Philip in the royal vault, I was told that the Queen actually instructed them not to move the coffin [from the Royal Vault into the memorial Chapel, where they are now both buried].
“Because she knew that she wouldn’t be long after.
“And she wanted them to go together.”

Her Majesty was buried alongside her late husband at the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle, an announcement on the royal family’s official website said.
“The Queen was buried together with the Duke of Edinburgh, at The King George VI Memorial Chapel,” the statement said, concluding a day of church services and royal parades.

The Queen’s coffin was lying in state in the first step towards re-joining her late husband
The Queen followed him only one year and four months after his death. She also died “peacefully” in her Balmoral residence.
Her Majesty finally rejoined her husband when her coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault, concluding the state funeral.
Katie Nicholl told ET the Queen “ultimately died of a broken heart.”
Her Majesty finally rejoined her husband when her coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault
“That moment where the Queen’s coffin was lowered down into the royal vault was very, very powerful. Very emotional,” Ms Nicholl said of the funeral’s final moments.
“The King found that very, very difficult to watch. But actually, what viewers may not realize, is the Queen had this all worked out, because in that same royal vault, currently lying, is the Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin, and they will both be interned together in this private ceremony, which won’t be televised, which will only be for immediate family.”
She continued, “And it was her wish, that he waited for her in the royal vault. She said, ‘Don’t open up my father’s vault,’ which is where they will all end up together, because she knew she wouldn’t be long after, and she wanted that final journey to be made with Phillip by her side.”
