Prince Philip gave the Queen this wedding present (and Kate Middleton has borrowed it)
Queen Elizabeth II was given a wedding gift by Prince Philip when the pair got married on 20 November 1947. The Queen, 91, received a diamond bracelet from her husband, 96 – and Kate Middleton has also worn the stunning piece.
Queen Elizabeth II had her wedding to Prince Philip in November 1947. In honour of the day, the former Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten bought Her Majesty a bracelet as a gift.
The large diamond bracelet was a fitting wedding gift for a member of the royal family, as it was made from the same diamonds as the Queen’s engagement ring.
These sparkling gems were taken from a tiara owned by Prince Philip’s mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg.
The tiara was dismantled to create his wife’s engagement ring, and later her wedding present.
A statement piece, the large bracelet harks back to the art deco era of design.
It was set in platinum, much like Her Majesty’s engagement ring, and made by the same London jeweller Philip Antrobus.
The Queen’s engagement ring was a three carat diamond solitare with five smaller diamonds on either side.
According to reports, the Prince-to-be took a hands-on role in the designs, specifying exactly what he wanted for his bride.

Kate Middleton was allowed to wear the bracelet at her first state banquet to make the visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan in October 2015.
At the event Kate wore a red dress by a favourite designer of her’s, Jenny Packham.
She also wore the Papyrus tiara, loved by the Queen mother, along with dangling silver earrings.
