He told People magazine it would have been one of Her Majesty’s “dearest wishes” to connect the rift caused after Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties and moved to the US.
The couple moved to Canada and later to California in 2020, and now live in Montecito in Santa Barbara.
Harry and Meghan’s move is believed to have caused a divide in the family and tensions between the Duke and his older brother, Prince William, have been widely reported.

The relationship is thought to have been particularly fraught after Harry and Meghan’s failed to fly back from Prince Philip’s memorial service at Westminster Abbey in March.
At the same time, the Duke of Sussex raised concerns about the security arrangements for him and his family in the UK.
But following the Queen’s death, there have been some glimpses of potential reconciliation between the couple and the rest of the Firm.

But a source told People Magazine the appearance was “awkward” and both couples struggled with the meeting.
“They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the Queen”, the source said.
In an extract from Katie Nicholl’s book, The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, said the Queen was “very hurt” over Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down from their royal duties.

In his first address to the nation, King Charles III told the country that he wanted to express his “love” for Harry and Meghan “as they continue to build their lives overseas”.
Charles also gave his youngest son permission to wear his military uniform during a vigil last Saturday for the late Queen.
Harry and Meghan have been in the UK since the Queen passed on September 8, and will remain in the country to observe the period of mourning.
The Royal Family are taking part in the mourning period, which will end on September 26.
