Princess Eugenie reveals moment Queen fell in love with Jack Brooksbank – ‘She KNEW’
Princess Eugenie has told how her grandmother The Queen gave her marriage to Jack Brooksbank the royal seal of approval, revealing “the incredible moment” the businessman proposed to her in Nicaragua in January.
The couple’s engagement was announced in 2018 – just one month after Meghan Markle and prince Harry announced their own big news.
Mr Brooksbank, who works as a brand ambassador for George Clooney’s Casmigos Tequila brand, told the BBC their relationship was “love at first sight”.
He said: “I love Eugenie so much and we are just so happy and over the moon for what is to come.”
But the Princess told how her grandmother, the Queen, fell in love with Mr Brooksbank on the spot.
She said Her Majesty and grandfather Prince Philip gave the engagement their blessing from the get go.
Eugenie said: “Granny actually knew right at the beginning [of the engagement]. She was very happy as was my grandfather.”
The couple got engaged in January this year on the private island of Nicaragua to a romantic lake backdrop while the sun was setting.
Mr Brooksbank revealed in the couple’s official engagement interview: “The setting was just perfect, beautiful volcano, summer setting, birds are flying.”
Eugenie added: “The light was just a special light I had never seen. I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon.”
The Princess said: ”It was a complete surprise. But it was the perfect moment, we couldn’t be happier.
“We met when I was 20 and Jack was 24 and fell in love. We have the same passions and drive for life.”
Mr Brooksbank, 34, said: “I found a ring in a jewellers and then proposed to Eugenie without it and came back and we designed the diamonds around this padparadscha sapphire.
“And what’s amazing about it is that it changes colour from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie. That she changes colour and is just so amazing.”
The couple’s lavish wedding will be similar to that of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who wed at the Chapel in May with the eyes of the world upon them.
And similar to the Duke and Duchess’ lavish wedding, Eugenie and Jack will invite select members of the public for a close-up view of the nuptials.
Following their ceremony, they will also make a short horse drawn carriage procession through Windsor town centre.
The pair will also have three wedding receptions following their marriage.
The celebrations will start at Royal Lodge Windsor, a venue that played host to the secret lives of secret lives of the Queen, Princess Margaret and even King George VI.
Guests at the show-stopping wedding are expected to include George and Amal Clooney and pop star Robbie Williams.
