One royal expert Daniela Elser wrote on news.com.au last week: “For years now, Eugenie has been the member of the Royal Family who has been closest to Meghan.
“While the various royal houses all shared sterile, official posts last week on social media to mark the Duchess’ 40th birthday, it was Eugenie alone who very affectionately threw her weight behind ‘dear Meghan’s”’ 40×40 mentorship campaign via Instagram.”
Referencing speculation about Eugenie potentially helping Prince Harry with his memoir she added: “”Eugenie, in this scenario, would be the first one of the Queen‘s inner circle to defect and in doing so would add serious credence to the Sussexes’ claims.”
However, according to a huge 95 percent of voters in an Express.co.uk poll, choosing to back up Meghan and Harry would be a big mistake.
Express.co.uk polled 18,531 people between 11.30am August 10 and 6pm August 11.
One reader said: “Eugenie has to side with them. Her husband’s job is in American networking, and her mother wants to plug her book, so she’s been manipulated to be the people pleaser.”
Another commented: “Eugenie should stay out of it. She needs to remain loyal to her grandmother, the Queen.”
Only three percent of voters thought Princess Eugenie should take the Duke and Duchess’s side.
In disagreement, 20 percent of voters thought the Queen and Eugenie would be absolutely fine if the Princess does decide to cheer from their corner.
These voters are perhaps nodding to the maturity and serene nature of the Queen, as they say she would not let drama from America rock the solid relationship she has with her granddaughter.
With Harry’s memoir in the process of being written, royal experts have speculated as to whether Princess Eugenie will contribute testimonies that back up Meghan’s claims of bullying and racism.
If she does decide to contribute to Harry’s highly-anticipated autobiography, she could give much needed clout to the Duke and Duchess’s claims against the Royal Family and cause significant damage to the royal household.

Princess Eugenie’s sister, Beatrice, is thought to have a less affectionate relationship with their cousin Prince Harry than Eugenie does.
Voters mostly thought that Princess Beatrice was not likely to share the same support for Meghan’s 40×40 scheme, with 62 percent predicting that she would not take part in it.
A reader commented: “These two girls should be careful. By aligning themselves with Harry and Meghan, they are tarring themselves with the same brush, which is never a good idea.”
Another said: “Let us hope that Beatrice is wiser. It would seem that Eugenie and her mother, Fergie, have poor judgement in the choice of their loyalties.”
So far, alongside Princess Eugenie there is a star-studded line up eager to support the Duchess’s charitable work, including:
Adele, Hillary Clinton, Melissa Mccarthy, Stella Mccartney, Amanda Gorman, Dr Nadine Burke Harris, Deepak Chopra, Priyanka Chopra, Ciara, Katie Couric, Edward Enninful, Amanda Nguyen, Misha Nonoo, Daniel Martin, Sarah Paulson, Sheryl Sandberg, Sophie Trudeau, Tessy Ojo, Sofia Carson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Dr Ibram X Kendi, Gloria Steinem, Jose Andres, Gabrielle Union, and Stacey Abrams.
