Princess Diana had this dream before Prince Charles marriage – but her hopes were dashed
Princess Diana, the mother of Prince William, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, and former wife of Prince Charles, 69, had this dream before her Royal Wedding. Today marks 21 years since Diana’s death.
It is the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death today, marking 21 years since the tragic car accident in Paris.
Princess Diana married Prince Charles, the future king and next-in-line to the British Throne, on 29 July 1981.
The pair tied the knot at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, and millions watched on. However, before her wedding to the Prince, Diana had a very different dream.
In her youth the Princess of Wales hoped to take to the stage as a dancer.

Diana studied to be a ballerina, but one tragic element held her back.
Experts told Diana she was too tall to be a star in the classic genre of dance.
Diana’s ballet teacher Anne Allan said in 2017: “She had dance in her soul.
“I realised the pure enjoyment that it gave her. She loved the freeness of being able to move and dance…
“I could see it helped to alleviate her emotional life.”
Sadly, Diana did not fulfil her hopes of being a dancer, however she did become an inspiration to many.
Princess Diana’s jobs before she married Charles were varied, but she enjoyed working with children.
Incorporating her love of dance with her early career, Diana worked as a dance instructor to children.
Diana, who described herself as a “rebel” as a child, later went to work at a playgroup, as well as cleaning and working as a hostess.
She then worked for an American family in London as a nanny and as a teaching assistant at a nursery, the Young England School in Pimlico.
Diana, Princess of Wales, tragically died in a road traffic accident in Paris on 31 August 1997.
The tragic death struck the nation, and sympathy spilled out for her family and sons across the world.
According to recent reports Sarah Ferguson and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles’s second wife, had an “enormous” row about Diana.
A source told magazine website New Idea that a row erupted between Fergie and Camilla due to long-standing tensions between the two.
The palace source revealed: “Fergie and Camilla came to blows at Balmoral last week, it was an enormous row that absolutely no-one saw coming.”
