Prince William has revealed a sweet nickname that he has for his daughter, Princess Charlotte.
Prince William has revealed Charlotte’s nickname
During a previous outing to the Chelsea Garden Show, Prince William accidentally revealed Princess Charlotte’s sweet nickname. Like many children, the young royal has many monikers – with Prince William revealing the most unlikely one yet. However, the adorable name given to his daughter holds a very sweet meaning.
In a recently unearthed video, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s three children can all be seen running around the gardens, in support of their mother and her garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.
At one point, William can be heard calling out to his daughter to give him ‘a push’ on the tree swing using a sweet nickname.
William calls out for ‘Mignonette’ – which, in French, is said to mean “cute” or “small, sweet, and delicate”.
According to older definitions of the word, it can also mean kind or gentle in French.
William revealed Charlotte’s sweet nickname
During an official trip to Ireland in 2019, Princess Kate revealed a more-traditional nickname that she uses for her daughter.
Kate met a fellow mum named Laura-Ann during the visit, with the mum writing on her Instagram that the then-Duchess of Cambridge revealed Charlotte’s nickname to her in their conversation.
She said: “She asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, ‘Oh, he’s the same age as Lottie.’ She calls her Lottie!”
In 2018, the Daily Mail also reported that Kate often refers to her daughter as ‘Poppet’.

Charlotte is not the only one of the three children to have nicknames, with Prince Louis reportedly being called ‘Lou Lou’ by his siblings.
According to Life and Style magazine, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s two eldest children – Charlotte and Prince George – gave the adorable nickname to their younger brother.
Prince George, the eldest of the trio, is reportedly called ‘PG’ or ‘Tips’ at school – a clever play as George and the brand share initials.
Charlotte is William and Kate’s only daughter
Charlotte turned eight earlier this month
Charlotte, who recently celebrated her eighth birthday, attended the King’s Coronation on May 6.
The young royal appeared alongside her five-year-old brother Prince Louis, who followed along behind their royal parents.
The couple’s eldest child Prince George was also present, although he held an important role as one of the King’s Pages of Honour so walked into the Abbey separately.
