Princess Beatrice turns 30 TOMORROW: Why it’ll be an extra special summer for royal
PRINCESS Beatrice will kick off her extra special summer tomorrow when she celebrates her 30th birthday – just a few months before she acts as maid of honour at her younger sister Princess Eugenie’s Royal Wedding to Jack Brooksbank.
The milestone for Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s daughter comes after just a few days after she opened up about the highs and lows of being a modern royal.
Princess Beatrice told how she often finds it “hard to navigate” between a life in the public spotlight and her career.
During an interview with fashion magazine Vogue, Princess Beatrice, 29, insisted that despite their royal status they are “real”.
She said: “It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol.
“We are the first: we are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses and doing all of this in the public eye.
“We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there.
“Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram – but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real.”
Beatrice is not considered a “working royal” and has a career outside of the palace as the vice president of partnerships and strategy at US-based company Afiniti.
Following her 30th birthday celebrations, it’s going to be a busy year for the Queen’s granddaughter who will act as maid of honour at her younger sister’s Windsor Royal Wedding in October.
Paying tribute to her younger sister ahead of her nuptials, she said: “Euge is amazing. She’s a very modern bride.”
Princess Beatrice delighted royal fans last month when they discovered her very own Instagram account, following in the footsteps of her mother and sister.
But the account @beayork, which is followed by Beatrice’s mother, the Duchess of York, is private.
She also has a Twitter account, which is public, under the handle @yorkirebea, which she uses to promote her charity work.
