Princess Beatrice, the Queen’s granddaughter, is currently expecting her first child. Beatrice’s baby will be the fourth royal baby born this year, following August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, Lucas Philip Tindall and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Beatrice’s baby will the 12th great-grandchild of the Queen and her late husband, Prince Philip.
Royal fans were delighted when Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced their engagement in 2019.
Like many couples, their planned wedding in May 2020 was disrupted by coronavirus, but they finally tied the knot in July 2020 in the presence of a small group of friends and family.
Earlier this year, Buckingham Palace announced that Beatrice, who is Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s eldest child, was expecting her first child with husband Edoardo.
Beatrice already has a stepson named Wolfie from Edoardo’s previous relationship.
Since announcing her pregnancy, royal fans have spotted Beatrice’s growing baby bump when out and about attending Wimbledon with her husband over the summer.
What will Beatrice and Edo name their baby?
Royal baby names are normally kept hush until after the baby has arrived.
And Beatrice has not revealed to date what she and Edo plan to name their son or daughter.
Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie’s own names were considered wildcards when Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew announced them.
So Beatrice may opt for an equally unusual royal name for her baby.
But we can speculate that there may be a royal tribute with their baby’s name, most likely with the middle name.
Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, earlier this year.
The name Philip is thought to be a touching tribute to Eugenie’s grandfather, Prince Philip, while Hawke is a Brooksbank family name.
If Beatrice has a son, she may wish to pay tribute to her grandfather too, or perhaps another family member like her father, Prince Andrew.
Equally, if Beatrice has a daughter, there is a good chance she will honour the Queen with her middle name choice.
Several female members of the Royal Family have the middle name of Elizabeth, including Princess Beatrice herself.
Or Beatrice could also opt to name her baby after her beloved mother, Sarah.
When is Princess Beatrice’s due date?
In a statement earlier this year, Buckingham Palace confirmed Princess Beatrice’s baby was due in the autumn.
Although an exact due date hasn’t been confirmed, with September well underway, we can assume Beatrice’s baby will likely arrive in the coming weeks.
Both Sarah Ferguson and Princess Eugenie welcomed their babies at the Portland Hospital in London, but it is unknown if this is where Beatrice will also welcome her first child.
