Earlier this year, Mike revealed that he, Zara and their children were in a bubble with Princess Anne, and were able to enjoy walks together during lockdown.
Peter Phillips also has two girls – Savannah, 10, and Isla, 9, and while they are close to their cousins Mia and Lena, COVID-19 restrictions mean the families won’t be able to mark Easter together as a group.
As of March 29, lockdown in England was relaxed allowing up to six people or two households to meet up and socialise outdoors, including in private gardens.
Princess Anne faces having to split Easter between Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips
Princess Anne: Zara and Peter both live in properties on Anne’s Gatcombe Park Estate
This means Princess Anne is likely to divide her Easter weekend between her two children, spending some of it with Mike and Zara and some with Peter and his girls.
Last year Peter announced his split from his wife Autumn Phillips and they are now understood to be living apart.
A statement about their divorced confirmed the couple would co-parent their two girls going forward and they are believed to remain on good terms.
Has Princess Anne met Baby Lucas?
Princess Anne was all smiles as she stepped out for her first engagement since the arrival of her grandson Lucas last week.
Princess Anne is close to both her children and is likely to split Easter weekend between them
While it has not been confirmed if Anne has met Zara’s boy, given Mike’s previous comment about them being bubbled-up it seems highly likely that she has.
Anne chose to raise her children without royal titles which means Zara and Peter are free from following protocol.
This was clear by the way Zara made her birth announcement, allowing Mike to share the news on his Rugby podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.
Not only did Mike announce the arrival of his son but he also shared details about how Zara gave birth on their bathroom floor after they didn’t have time to make it to hospital.
Given that royal births are usually shrouded in secrecy, Zara’s birth announcement was a clear break from tradition.
Mike and Zara are yet to share pictures of their baby boy with the public and as non-senior royals, they are under no pressure to do so.
Mike gave an update on how little Lucas was doing on the latest episode of his podcast.
The former England rugby captain said: “It’s been good actually, I can’t complain.”
Mike added: “He’s pretty good, the wee man. He loves his Umbro Lord’s work stash, that we’ve already got him in but he, no, he’s been great so far.”
Baby Lucas is the Queen and Prince Philip’s 10th great-grandchild and is 22nd in line to the throne.
His low ranking in the line of succession means Lucas will not take a royal title.
Mike and Zara are expected to have a private christening for their son rather than a traditional royal ceremony.
