Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sweet Christmas gesture

This may be their first Christmas together as a married couple, but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated the holiday in the cutest way last year.

The royal couple, who tied the knot on May 19th in a lavish Windsor Castle wedding, decorated Kensington Palace like any other family would – with a tree and lights.

However, they didn’t just pick up any old supermarket tree, but decided to source one which had been grown in Africa.

According to the Express, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took a trip to Pines and Needles in London, where they picked out a tree which was planted in Africa by humanitarian and environmental charity TreeAid

The charity works with the people of Africa to relieve them of poverty and encourage them to protect the environment.

The Christmas tree isn’t the only tradition Harry and Meghan will be repeating this year, as the couple were famously pictured attending Christmas Day service at Sandringham with the Queen and the rest of the royal family.

The invitation was massive for the Queen, who reportedly had never before extended an invitation to someone who wasn’t already a member of the royal family.

Indeed, Kate Middleton wasn’t pictured with the royal family on Christmas Day until she married Prince William in 2011, despite the fact they had been together for years before that.

And this year, it’s being claimed that the Queen has broken protocol even more, by inviting Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, to join the family’s festive celebration.

“The Queen was very impressed by Mrs. Ragland when they met,” a royal source told Vanity Fair.

“The Queen knows that Meghan’s family situation is complicated and that the easiest way for Meghan and Harry to be together and with Doria, which is what they want, is for them all to join her at Sandringham where there is plenty of space.

“It’s not the norm but then things seem to have changed quite a lot recently.”
