Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tipped for July wedding as engagement rumours build
The wedding bells of London are being polished and primed for a summer wedding tipped to place “a feather in the cap” of a generation of Royals which has restored magic to the monarchy and lived out the very definition of a modern fairytale.
Sources close to Buckingham Palace have told A Current Affair the announcement of an official engagement between Prince Harry and his actress girlfriend Meghan Markle is expected in weeks as plans are laid for a July wedding in honour of the groom’s late mother Diana.
Insiders are tipping that Prince Harry will wait at the end of the aisle of St George’s chapel for his American bride, transforming a commoner into a royal with a kiss placed 37 years to the month after the one which graced the lips of a 20-year-old Norfolk woman and sealed her place in history as the People’s Princess.

Anticipation has evolved into frenzy across Britain in the past 24 hours after Ms Markle, 36, announced her departure from hit USA Network drama Suits.
The sacrifice is seen by many as the final confirmation the divorcee is preparing for life as sister-in-law of the future king.
Ms Markle was born in Los Angeles but has spent seven years living in Toronto, a spell which pundits predict will assist her in married life under the same roof as the fourth (soon to be fifth) in line to the throne.

“Yes she’s American but she has lived in Canada, which is part of the Commonwealth, for seven years so the step won’t be so big,” says royal commentator and Prince Harry biographer Katie Nichol.

July also marks the two-year anniversary of the start of Harry and Meghan’s love affair – one often hidden from the eager eyes of the world’s press with great care.
In November 2016 Prince Harry issued a statement confirming his relationship with the Hollywood beauty and asking the hungry reporters of Fleet Street to keep a respectable distance.

The move was hailed as one of the most chivalrous gestures in his own very public life by Royal commentators.
In a special edition of A Current Affair tonight, viewers will be taken directly to the heart of London, where the excitement is at fever pitch, as we speak to a host of experts with close ties to the Royal family reacting to whispers of July nuptials fast growing into roars.
July is also seen as a perfect month for the union as it falls between April, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge William and Kate are expecting their third child, and October, when Sydney will host the Prince Harry-created Invictus Games.
Ms Markle’s previous marriage to film producer Trevor Engelson is believed to have ruled out Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s, where Charles and Diana wed, as potential wedding venues.
In marrying Meghan Markle, Prince Harry will follow in the footsteps of his big brother William, who also wed a commoner, and also his great-great-uncle Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
