Ms Mills asked: “Your father, the Duke of Edinburgh, is in hospital at the moment. Do you mind me asking how he is at the moment?”
Prince Edward told her: “As far as I’m aware, well I did speak to him the other day, so he’s a lot better thank you very much indeed.
“He’s looking forward to getting out, which is the most positive thing.
“So we keep our fingers crossed.”
Ms Mills also asked if Philip was feeling any “frustration” at being in hospital, to which Edward burst out laughing.
He joked: “Just a bit. I think that gets to all of us.
“You can only watch the clock so many times and the walls are only so interesting.”
The Earl thanked the reporter after she sent her well wishes along.
He added that there had been some “brilliant and lovely messages from all sorts of people”.
Edward said: “We really appreciate that and so does he.
“I’ve been passing them on. It’s fantastic, thank you.”
Buckingham Palace’s latest announcement has confirmed that Philip is being treated for an infection.
They stated that he is “comfortable and responding to treatment”.
He is not due to leave hospital “for several days”.
Prince Charles has been the only royal so far to visit the Duke in hospital.
However, Prince William revealed that the royal is “okay” during an official visit, adding that the doctors are “keeping an eye on him”.
