Prince Charles FUMING after watching Diana tapes documentary, reveals Royal butler
PRINCE Charles DID watch the Princess Diana secret tapes documentary last night, a Royal butler has revealed to Daily Star Online.
The Royals tuned in to “Diana: In Her Own Words” on Channel 4 to hear a series of bombshell revelations which left the Prince “fuming”, we can reveal.
The family heard bombshell revelations from Diana, from how s-x with Charles was “odd” to how she confronted Camilla Parker-Bowles over Charles’ affair with her.
They, along with a peak audience of 4.1 million viewers in one of Channel 4’s biggest ever documentaries, also heard her reveal her biggest crush.
But by the end of the 110-minute documentary the Prince was “fuming”, the Royal butler has told us, with both him and the Queen eager for her story not to be brought into the limelight.
According to the source, the Queen had also seen parts of the documentary.
However, she spoke more reflectively about how “Diana was not looked after by the palace properly”.
Revealing their reactions, the butler – who has worked for the Royal Family for more than a decade – said: “The Prince did watch it while doing other things.
“He was fuming because it brought all of this back up.
“Her Majesty also watched some of it.
“She is wanting to move on and she knows Diana was not looked after by the palace properly but she had always said we must learn from the past on how to move on.
“She certainly doesn’t want all this brought back up again but she knows she interview was always out there.”
The butler told us Diana’s sons, Princes Harry and William, did not watch the programme because Harry is currently on holiday in Africa with girlfriend Meghan Markle, while William was “having a small party”.
Last night’s programme attracted an average audience of 3.5 million viewers, making it one of Channel 4’s biggest ever shows.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: “The documentary attracted an average audience of 3.5 million viewers and a 16.4% share of audience making it Channel 4’s highest rating overnight audience since Gogglebox in April last year [3.9m, 22/04/16] and biggest overnight for a doc since Benefits Street in Feb 2014 [4.5m, 10/02/14].
“The performance more than doubled Channel 4’s slot average – up +131% for volume and up +142% for share by comparison.
“The audience peaked with 4.1 million viewers and a 19% share.”
