Pippa Wedding: Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to stay with the Middletons
WHEN your son is marrying into a family with the highest of royal connections you might expect a bed on their sprawling 18-acre estate for the wedding weekend.
But Pippa Middleton’s in-laws have been told there is “no room at the inn” when she ties the knot with James Matthews next month and have booked into nearby rental cottages instead.
Accommodation at Bucklebury Manor, Michael and Carole Middleton’s £5million Grade II-listed Berkshire pad, is understood to be tight after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge asked to stay at the seven-bedroom Georgian property with their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who will act as page boy and bridesmaid at the nuptials on May 20.
It is thought Prince Harry will also stay there for security reasons.
The Matthews family, which includes the groom’s brother and best man, Made In Chelsea star Spencer, are understood to be staying in the nearby village of Hampstead Norreys.
A source revealed: “As well as hosting the reception at Bucklebury Manor, the Middletons have got Pippa staying there the night before the wedding along with William, Kate and the children so it’s going to be pretty chaotic.
They understand the need for privacy with two future kings and Prince Harry staying with the Middletons
“James’s parents are hoteliers themselves so they are more than happy being put up elsewhere. They also understand the need for privacy with two future kings and Prince Harry staying with the Middletons. Everyone will be able to make it to the church on time because Land Rover are apparently providing all the transport.”
Last week Kensington Palace released some details about the wedding, which will be held at St Mark’s Church, Englefield, with a reception afterwards at the family home bought by the Middletons in 2013.
It was confirmed there will be no official role for Kate despite Pippa acting as her bridesmaid when she married William in 2011.
Multimillionaire Mr Matthews, 41, who set up a hedge fund company, got down on bended knee to propose to Pippa, 33, during a trip to the Lake District last July.
The pair had been dating for less than a year but Pippa had already moved into Mr Matthews’ £17million west London mansion.
