‘No way back’ for Prince Harry after causing ‘great wound’ with Royal Family

Prince Harry reportedly has “no way back” into the Royal Family as the extended olive branches seen throughout the ten-day mourning period have been described as “sticking plasters” over the extensive harm caused by the Duke

Speaking of Prince Harry, the royal commentator said: “The olive branch being extended by the King in his statement, the fact William invited them to Windsor – these are sticking plasters on a great wound that he has had a huge hand in.”

He asked: “Is he [now] really regretting his conduct over the last couple of years?

“I don’t know where they go from here, and I can only see it getting worse because of this book.

“Even if it is a percentage of what we think it’s going to be, it’s going to be even worse for him. I don’t see a way back for him.”

Prince Harry is set to release a detailed memoir of his royal life later this year, with publication “tentatively scheduled” for autumn, although no exact date has been confirmed.

The Duke of Sussex said: “I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

He said he planned to write the book “not as the Prince I was born but as the man I have become”.

Royal commentators have speculated that the book could cause a further rift between the Duke and the Royal Family if the publication contains criticisms of the institution and its members.

He suggested the Queen’s death had marked a pivotal moment for Prince Harry as the former monarch was a great “ally” to him throughout the tense period within the Royal Family.

Despite his relocation to California, Prince Harry told Oprah Winfrey: “My grandmother and I have a really good relationship.”

In his ground-breaking 2021 interview with the US host, the Duke of Sussex praised the Queen’s “amazing” efforts to welcome his wife, Meghan Markle, into the Royal Family.

He added that his step back from royal duties had not come as a surprise to the late monarch: “I’ve never blindsided my grandmother. I have too much respect for her.”

For the first time in over two years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales while greeting crowds of mourners outside Windsor Castle.

Despite his presence within the grieving Royal Family, royal commentators have suggested the mourning period does not mark a shift in relations as Prince Harry’s public return is a temporary result of the extraordinary circumstances.

Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly returned to their home in America following the conclusion of the official mourning period.
