Meghan Markle’s BFF spills on royal wedding blunder
When actress Janina Gavankar attended close pal Meghan Markle’s nuptials in May, many royal wedding spectators were left wondering, ‘Who is the woman in the orange dress?’

Now the 37-year-old has come clean on why her identity was a major mystery, and it’s all because the actress forgot to do one essential thing.
“I was the only person who didn’t tell my publicists to announce that I was going [to the royal wedding],” she told Bustle.
“In some ways, I was so naive.”
The True Blood star says she didn’t approach Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding like she would with a usual Hollywood red carpet, where event organisers are informed of her attendance in advance, so “cheat sheets” can be laid out with her face and name.
“This wasn’t a Hollywood thing! This was just a wedding, y’all! So I didn’t think that I needed to announce that I was going,” she explained.
Nonetheless, Janina had an absolute ball at the royal wedding, and said she cannot be happier for her famous pal.
Old Instagram photos show Janina and Meghan spending time together during Meghan’s Suits days, the two actresses having plenty in common, extending beyond their careers in acting.
Another thing they’re both passionate about is race relations.
In her recent interview with Build, Janina spoke about the importance of openly discussing racism and white privilege, and how her new film Blindspotting explores this.
Janina said the movie which follows two childhood friends in Oakland, California, illustrates the issues “in a very understandable, tangible, approachable way”.
“It also delivers this message at a moment when you love these characters so much that you’re like ready to receive it,” she said.

“So few people have done that really well and almost everybody feels it from both sides.
“From people who experience white privilege, they, [if they’re woke enough], they understand it but it’s very hard to articulate and it’s also a very new conversation.”
“This is a really helpful movie because it can explain things that maybe you might be feeling that you haven’t seen before, you haven’t been able to explain to yourself,” she added.
