Meghan Markle: Why does the Duchess of Sussex always put her hands in her pockets? Body language expert reveals the truth

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has acquired a habit during royal engagements.

Meghan Markle has really got into the swing of royal life, with the Duchess of Sussex attending numerous events since marrying Prince Harry.

Every eye is on Kate Middleton’s sister-in-law everything she steps out in public, as we obsess over her chemistry with Harry and her impeccable fashion sense.

However, during the past two royal engagements, the Duchess has acquired a habit, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

But why has Meghan suddenly started doing this in public? OK! Online spoke to author and body language analyst Judi James, who shed some light on the situation.

She said: “Prince Charles does it, Prince Harry does it and even little Prince George has been seen doing it, but Meghan might be the first royal woman to shove her hand into a pocket when she’s out in public.”

While Judi points out putting hands in ones pocket is a common gesture of someone who wants to hide, this isn’t why Meghan is really doing it.

She continued to explain: “The classic reason for this very common gesture is that it signals a subliminal desire to hide, especially when the hands are shoved deep into the pockets.

“It also helps get over the common problem most of us suffer from, which is not really knowing what to do with our hands when we know people are looking at us.” However, she believes Meghan’s hands-in-pockets gesture has more to do with fashion than anything else.

She said: “Meghan’s high levels of confidence suggest her reason is more to do with fashion than anxiety though.

“It is also a probable nod to her love of 50’s styling.
