Meghan Markle laughs LOUDLY as Prince Harry is suddenly LIFTED off his feet
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry once again appear to throw all royal etiquette out the window as Harry gets a bear hug from an Invictus Games sailor in Sydney harbour, during the pair’s Australia tour.
Prince Harry reportedly broke royal protocol by engaging an Invictus Games sailor in a huge bear hug, getting lifted off his feet in the process.
The hug took place on a boat in Sydney harbour as Harry and Meghan greeted the US sailing team.
Footage shows the sailor lifting Prince Harry up from the floor and giving him a tight squeeze, while the Duchess of Sussex looks on laughing and clapping before exclaiming: “Nicely done.”
Prince Harry then jokingly warns the sailor not to bear hug Meghan.
Meghan then says: “Well done guys, that’s amazing.”
This is not the first time that Meghan and Harry have resisted royal etiquette on their Australia tour, with the pair breaking protocol on a number of occasions.
While visiting the iconic Bondi Beach in Sydney, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked their shoes off in a move which contradicts Royal etiquette rules, especially for female members of the Royal family.
The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton visited Manly Beach in Sydney in 2014, but kept her shoes on her feet.
Princess Diana also did not dare to remove her wedges in 1983, when she made a visit to NSW beach in Terrigal.
The Royal couple’s first major trip together comes just after Meghan announced she was pregnant.
During a cycling race yesterday, a well-wisher shouted to Prince Harry: “Congratulations, I hope it’s a girl!”
The Duke promptly replied: “So do I!”
It it the first time the 34-year old has opened up about his preference for the sex of his future child, but he previously told fans he and Meghan “couldn’t think of a better place to announce the upcoming baby, whether it’s a boy or a girl”.
Kensington Palace announced on Monday, October 15, that Meghan was pregnant following much speculation and thanked the public for the support they had shown the Duchess since the Royal wedding in May.
A statement released by the Palace read: “Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
“Their Royal Highnesses very much appreciate all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share their happy news.”
