Meghan Markle’s dad WILL give a speech at Royal wedding to Prince Harry
MEGHAN Markle’s dad will give a speech at her wedding amid speculation the bride will break with tradition and give a speech herself.
Ms. Markle’s reclusive lighting director dad Thomas Markle 73, is expected to walk her down the aisle.
He will also speak at the royal event, if the former Suits star’s outspoken half-sister Samantha Markle, 53 is to be believed.
Samantha, from Florida, reportedly said: “Of course my father wants to speak at the wedding and he will. He is proud and looks forward to it.
“A father speaking at a wedding is not patriarchy, it is poetic justice. A proud and loving father should not be denied the joy of speaking at his daughter’s wedding.”
She added: “And we can’t forget that it was our father who uplifted us and made us all that we are today so he should not be deprived of the right that fathers have to give a proud speech at the wedding.
“He wants to speak and it’s his right as a father,” reports The Sun.
Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, are set to marry at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19 after announcing their engagement in November.
The bride‐to‐be was speculated to break centuries of Royal tradition by hoping to make a speech of her own at the wedding reception.
The speech, thought to have Harry’s backing, would have reportedly include a tribute to her future husband and thanks to the Queen, her family and friends.
Mr Markle, who was an Emmy-winning lighting director in Hollywood before retiring, is yet to meet Harry.
But he had previously said: “I think it’s wonderful, I’m very delighted. I think they’re a very good match, I’m very happy for them, Meghan and Harry.
“I love my daughter very much – Harry’s a gentleman.”
Mr Markle was married to Meghan’s mother, his second wife Doria Ragland, in 1979, and lived with them in Woodland Hills, California, until they divorced in 1988.
