As the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child comes closer and closer, speculation continues to grow as to who the chosen godparents will be.

While many might be quick to assume that Harry’s brother William and wife Kate are the obvious choices, that will likely not be the case.
Just as Harry wasn’t chosen to be a godparent to any of the Duke and Duchess’ kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis – it’s unlikely that he will pick them either.
And no, the reason has nothing to do with the rumoured feud said to be causing tension between the two couples in recent months.
Rather, it comes down to the fact that William and Kate are already immediate family.
When Prince Harry wasn’t chosen as a godparent, royal expert Robert Jobson explained it was due to the fact he is already their uncle, meaning he “will have a role in [the child’s] life anyway.”
Kate and William instead chose a selection of close friends and family to be the godparents to their children and it’s likely Harry and Meghan will follow suit.

So when the royal baby – due in the UK spring – does arrive, our best guess is that Harry and Meghan will pick close friends such as George and Amal Clooney or Meghan’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney and husband Ben Mulroney.
According to an inside source, Harry and Meghan and George and Amal are, “much closer than the headlines let on”.
And in the eyes of George’s cousin Ben Breslin, “He’d make a wonderful godfather, he’d make a wonderful just about anything — he’s a good guy,” reports Mail Online.

On the other hand, Meghan’s close friendship with stylist Jessica Mulroney is making her and her husband strong candidates.
Their three children, twin boys Brian and John and daughter Isabel, were also included in the young bridal party at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding.

Meanwhile, some other possible candidates could include, Harry’s cousin Princess Beatrice or fashion designer Misha Nonoo who had a hand in setting the pair up.
