Meghan Markle ALWAYS wears high heels with Prince Harry – the reason why REVEALED
MEGHAN Markle never fails to sport a pair of stilettos as part of her dress code for royal engagements with her husband, Prince Harry, but what is the real reason behind the Duchess of Sussex’s love for heels?
Earlier this week, 36-year-old Meghan was spotted wearing a pair of black high heels as she stepped onto the pitch at Dublin’s Croke Park – and her husband Prince Harry is part of the reason behind her choice of footwear.
At 5ft 6in, Meghan is seven inches shorter than her husband, Prince Harry who stands at 6ft 1.
The Duchess of Sussex wears heels to take away their height difference, which can be obvious in pictures, creating an “unbalanced” look when the royal couple are stood next to each other.
Celebrity photographer Glenn Gratton said: “Couples with a big height difference look slightly unbalanced in pictures , and often the smaller of the two ends up looking even smaller and is constantly looking up at their partner.
“Rod Stewart and his wife Penny have a large gap but this is minimised by Rod wearing Cuban heels and Penny not wearing super high heels.
“In the case of Harry and Meghan she will be wearing high heels to maximise her height and shorten the gap if possible.”
Meghan has also been seen wearing high waist, mid-length pencil skirts on several occasions, in a bid to create a “height difference” illusion.
Mr Gratton also told MailOnline: “Careful use of wardrobe choices will be important for Harry and Meghan to make sure the couples’ height difference is minimised.
“The shape of skirts will also give the optical illusion to make her look taller than she actually is.
“Red carpet pictures can be exaggerated as they will be shot on a wide angle lens so it makes the height difference look more than it is.”
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge is often spotted wearing flat heeled shoes, unlike her sister-in-law, Meghan.
This is because Kate is 5ft 10in, taller than the average British woman and is also not that much shorter than her husband, Prince William, who stands at 6ft 2in.
Kate can often be seen wearing sneakers on sportier royal engagements, while Meghan has yet to be seen in flat shoes.
At the Invictus Games in Bath University, the Duchess of Sussex sported a pair of black stiletto heeled boots even though she had to walk across a running track and a grass pitch.
Meghan, at her first Buckingham Palace Garden party, wore a pair of heels despite having to walk on grass during the entire event.
