In a newly-resurfaced interview, Meghan also appeared to not be very well prepared on “Britishness” either.
In a 2016 Dave interview, Meghan – at the time most famous for her acting work – was asked several questions to test her British knowledge.
When asked what the national animal of England was, the future Duchess of Sussex looked clueless.
She said: “Am I supposed to know that?”
Looking at someone behind the camera, she added: “You don’t know that.
“She doesn’t know it either.”
When the animal was finally revealed to her, Meghan rebutted with much surprise: “It’s a lion.
Since then, her knowledge on all things British has without a doubt improved.
She said: “There were certain things that you couldn’t do.
“But, you know, unlike what you see in the movies, there’s no class on how to speak, how to cross your legs, how to be royal.
“There’s none of that training.
Meghan insisted no one had prepared her or told her what to expect, so she took it upon herself to learn the British national anthem and hymns sung in church services.
She added: “Even down to the national anthem. No one thought to say, ‘Oh, you’re American. You’re not going to know that’.”
She claimed she had to google the national anthem and learned various hymns “late at night” ahead of a televised service because she didn’t “want to embarrass them.”
She also told Oprah that Prince Harry taught her to curtsy just before her first meeting with the Queen.
Meghan said: “I learned it very quickly.
“Right in front of the house, we just practiced and then walked in.”
“I met her and, apparently, I did a very deep curtsy.”
