The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary this April, and they received plenty of love from royal well-wishers in honor of the occasion. And, as any polite couple might, they reciprocated with individual thank-you notes—complete with a photo they took on their trip to Bhutan last year.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are most grateful to you for the message you so kindly took the trouble to send on the occasion of their 6th Wedding Anniversary. It was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses send you their warmest thanks and best wishes,” the note reads.
Being a modern couple, they also took to the Internet to share their own good tidings. Five days ago, Kensington Palace posted a thank-you message alongside their wedding photo on Instagram: “Thank you so much for all the lovely messages wishing The Duke and Duchess a happy sixth wedding anniversary.”
Will and Kate, though under the international spotlight, have lived their six years of married life much like any other new couple (except, of course, for that whole “royal” thing). Per a new People cover story, their lives don’t involve the waiting on hand and foot that most might expect. Kate answers the door of their country home with a Peppa Pig-loving Princess Charlotte in her arms and Prince George “clinging to her ankles,” as nearly all four-year-olds are wont to do.
Perhaps next year’s anniversary card will feature that scene in a photo, or it could contain a recording of George and Charlotte counting in Spanish.
