Kate’s catwalk moment rivalled by another royal

A MEMBER of the Monegasque Royal Family has rivalled the Duchess of Cambridge’s famous catwalk moment by making a non-conventional entrance during the Paris Fashion Week.

Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Princess Caroline and niece of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, wowed A-listers and fashion gurus as she rode a horse on the Chanel runway during the ongoing show taking place in France. Charlotte officially opened the high-end brand’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2022 Show trotting down the catwalk.

The royal, who is Chanel’s ambassador, sported dramatic winged eyeliner and her hair pulled up in a tight bun.

Donning a black helmet and gloves, matching trousers and a black tweed jacket, the royal left stunned many of the celebrities attending the show at the Grand Palais Ephemere.

Among the A-listers who witnessed the explosive entrance in person, there were US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, rapper Pharrell Williams and actress Margot Robbie.

Charlotte is the granddaughter of Hollywood star and late Monegasque Princess Grace Kelly.

Despite being 11th-in-line to the Monegasque throne, she is a private citizen who doesn’t carry out official duties for the principality.

However, alongside her mother and her two brothers Andrea and Pierre, she sometimes takes part in key events such as National Day, falling every year on November 19.

Charlotte, aged 35, isn’t the first royal to grace the runway.

In 2002, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, famously took part in a fashion show while she was a student at St Andrews University.

The now Duchess, who at the time was studying history of art, donned a see-through lace dress for the show, held to raise money for charity.

Prince William, also a student at the university at the time, reportedly spent £200 for a ticket to watch the fashion show from the front row.

The dress donned by the future Duchess was later sold for a whopping £78,000.

While Kate did not pursue a career in fashion, other members of the House of Windsor have since walked down the runway.

Lady Amelia Windsor, Prince Harry and Prince William’s cousin, debuted on the catwalk in February 2017, when she walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana during the Milan Fashion Week.

She also walked in Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring Collection two years later.

Amelia, who is also a fashion and environmental writer, has worked with several fashion labels, including Chanel and Azzedine Alaia.

Much like Charlotte, on Monday she turned heads at the Dior show at the Paris Fashion Week.

Another model related to the Windsors is Lady Kitty Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece.

Kitty, the eldest child of Charles Spencer, is the spokesmodel for jewellery brand Bulgari and fashion company Dolce & Gabbana.

The seventh-in-line to the Danish throne, Prince Nikolai, has also made a name for himself in the fashion world.

The 22-year-old grandson of Queen Margrethe II started modelling aged 18 and made his runway debut in February 2018 at Burberry’s show at London Fashion Week.

Also appearing in Paris during the city’s Men’s Fashion Week, Nikolai has recently appeared on the runway wearing Danish outwear brand Rains.

The royal, who doesn’t carry out public duties, is also studying at university.

In July 2019 he was admitted to Copenhagen Business School to study Business Administration and Service Management.
